Who Gets to Decide?

The government already believes they can decide how much they can tax us. Now the far left Democrats want to decide how much profit is “reasonable” for a business (and by extension, you) to make. (Thanks to Roberta X for the link.)

I should mention that the proposed bill concerns gas prices only – at the moment. But beware, because it sets a dangerous precedent. How long, before the government controls the profit level of all business? And from there, to individuals? [2]

Ed Morrissey writes about this over on Hot Air, too. Good article.

Oddly enough, they don’t want to regulate this by changing your profit margin – they want to regulate this by taking whatever you have earned that is more than they think you can have. Kind of makes you wonder about their motives… and does nothing to protect the consumer.

It’s funny how the liberal push for “fairness” is inevitably unfair to whoever they are stealing from.

They want you to think that the left and the Democrats have the moral high ground because they give money to people who haven’t earned it.

The flip side of that same coin is that they are a bunch of thieves who steal the money they are giving away. They may find a way to make it legal, but they are still taking what isn’t theirs [1] – and that is stealing, no matter how you slice it.

Folks, that is not a moral act. Shucks, it breaks one of the Ten Commandments.

It’s funny how little liberals give to the poor out of their own pocket, compared to conservatives. They are all about giving your money to somebody else, but not theirs, oh no!

[1] They take it at gunpoint, too. Yes, it is “taxes”. Try not paying your taxes… eventually, if you keep it up, people with guns will show up to take you to jail.

[2] It is a matter of philosophy, you see. This particular bill probably won’t pass – but it gives an excellent view into how these people think.
