The Truth Will Set You Free

Wouldn’t it be refreshing if the damned politicians would quit lying to us?

Just a few examples off the top of my head – these are not necessarily exact quotes:

Days, not weeks” – Obama, re the “Kinetic Military Action” in Libya. Which started March 19, 2011.

“When a bill lands on my desk, the American people will have 5 days to review it.” – Obama

“Won’t raise taxes on those making less than $250,000 per year.” (broken within days of Obama’s inauguration, by his signing of SCHIP, which added $0.62 per pack to the cost of cigarettes, a tax which penalized the poor more than any other group. Also broken by the ObamaCare mandate and related 20 or so hidden taxes.)

The unemployment rate will pass 8.5% if the stimulus isn’t passed. – Obama or his administration

“If you like the health care plan you have, you can keep it.” – Obama

No federal dollars will be used to fund abortions. – Obama or his administration.

Obama promised not to use presidential signing statements to override congressional law. He’s done this a number of times.

Those are just a very few. Go online and do your own search. One good site is

On a more general view, I searched Google for “politician lies”, and got “About 20,000,000 results”.

There is a reason that the word “politician” is associated with the word “liar”.

Now, the conundrum is how to get honest people to do the job now being done by politicians. We’d have to call them something else so we could tell the difference. Is there any organization out there that actually rates politicians on truthfulness?

The problem is the leaders of both parties are power-hungry and corrupt, and will not allow an honest man to run for office. This will not change. We will always have the “lesser of two evils” from which to choose, and we will always find out that the “lesser evil” is a lot more evil than we were led to believe.

    We are finished.

How about his perceived reticence to enact more gun bans, er, *ahem* “common sense gun laws”? He told the Bradys in not so many words, “Look what I will do!”. Meaning, of course, he’s in on the Gunwalker scandal, all of which is meant to gin up more support for attacks on the 2A.
