In As Few Words As Possible

The Role of Federal Government:

To handle the actual business of the country, that must be handled as a group.

This includes things like contract law, uniform laws for infrastructure such as highway markings, printing currency, foreign relations including trade, and waging war. It includes controlling the borders and national immigration.

It does NOT include anything like welfare, unemployment benefits, bailing out banks or any other legal entity, bailing out employment funds of unions or any other group. It does not include controlling medical care or retirement benefits. It does not include growth of federal government for it’s own sake.

Any growth of government beyond the necessary represents an unnecessary burden on the taxpayers and the economy.

At what point is our investment in tax dollars no longer a good investment? Well, let’s put it another way – what do you get for your tax dollar?
