Just a casual thought experiment – maybe what we need is a cold boot of our government. For the non-computer-literate, a cold boot is equivalent to cycling the power on a computer; turn it off, wait a minute, turn it back on. You do this “as a last resort to forcibly retrieve the system from instances of a system freeze, critical error or virus-inflicted DoS attack”.
This causes the computer to restart with a known configuration that is not running whatever program was going nuts and screwing up your system. It won’t fix viruses. In the context I am speaking of, it is to correct a problem with legitimate software that has for one reason or another, misbehaved.
The United States has the best form of government in the world, in the original. It’s all the gunk that has accumulated that is the problem. I am NOT advocating overthrow of the government by any means; I believe in the principles of our government. I just think it is being grossly mismanaged by a bunch of delusional, lying thieves.
Imagine a cold boot of our government: Restart with ONLY the constitution (with amendments as it exists today). Toss out all other millions of pages of federal laws and start over. Kick out ALL incumbents in EVERY office and ban them from ever holding public office again. Just – reboot! THAT would get the corruption out of Washington. For a while.
Eliminate ALL federal agencies not established by the Constitution.
It would be really interesting to see what developed next. The new people in office would have to find a way to fund the government that the people would not vote down. After all, now, we know where income tax takes you. Agencies like the EPA and the IRS would not exist.
I wonder if we would be wiser, the second time around.
Business would blossom very quickly without the yoke of Federal regulation and taxation. Shucks, the economy would leap upward, without the burden of paying for all the massive government! We’d ALL have jobs, in short order!
It would be very interesting to see just how much of the accumulated crap the electorate would allow to be put back into place, if we could start clean. The first bill I would push for would be for a two-term limit for ALL elected positions. This would go a long way to minimize corruption in Congress, and is something that will never get passed with the current congress in place.
I could go on and on. Gee, this is a fun thought experiment! I may have to write a book.
