Thanks to Bayou Renaissance Man for pointing me to this:
Go read the article – it is scary. The U.S. economy really is in shambles, much worse than I had personally grasped. Just one quote from the article above:
#50) In 2010 the U.S. government is projected to issue almost as much new debt as the rest of the governments of the world combined.
From the Washington Times: The one-day increase for June 30 totaled $165,931,038,264.30 – bigger than the entire annual deficit for fiscal year 2007. The figure works out to nearly $1,500 for every U.S. household, or more than 10 times the median daily household income. … Daily debt calculations jump and fall, and big shifts are common. But all three of the biggest one-day debt increases have occurred under the tenure of President Obama, and all of the top six have been in the past two years – an indication of just how quickly the pace of deficit spending has risen under Mr. Obama and President George W. Bush.
Obama’s own Debt Commission guy, Erskine Bowles, said bluntly that “current budgetary trends a cancer “that will destroy the country from within” unless checked by tough action in Washington.” and “We can’t grow our way out of this,” Bowles said. “We could have decades of double-digit growth and not grow our way out of this enormous debt problem. We can’t tax our way out. . . . The reality is we’ve got to do exactly what you all do every day as governors. We’ve got to cut spending or increase revenues or do some combination of that.”
Obama and the Democrats are blithely piling on incredible levels of debt without regard to the consequences, for the sake of their social agenda rather than anything substantial, and it has to stop! The liberals think that future growth will pay for all this (some of them actually told me this). Bowles, in his statement above, directly refuted that idea.
Obama has an agenda, there’s no doubt about that. it is an extreme left liberal agenda. This agenda is playing out in one of two ways:
EITHER Obama and the liberals are pursuing their agenda regardless of the consequences for the country – which makes them either criminally negligent or viciously stupid;
OR they are by intent trying to destroy our economy, and by extension, our country.
(Addendum: I have no evidence either way. Based on what I have discovered, pure logic dictates it is one or the other. I don’t see any other alternatives to the facts before me.)
Either way, if they continue, the result will be total collapse of the economy. According to their own expert, Erskine Bowles.
Action MUST be taken – now. The U.S. government must stop all non-essential federal spending, whatever is necessary. The government needs to stop spending money as if it was water. Every program should be reviewed to minimize cost – and necessity. In the next two elections we need to put in people who are extremely fiscally conservative, regardless of party affiliation. In essence, we need a bunch of penny-pinchers to be running things in Washington – as soon as possible.
Even so, it is going to be a long, long time before we dig our way out of this. If we do. I probably won’t live to see it.
I hope and pray that we never, ever elect an ideologue into any public office again. For future reference: pick somebody who wants to run things efficiently rather than somebody that thinks we can get by on “hope and change”.
“Hope and Change” sucks.
