For decades, the problem of illegal immigrants from Mexico has been steadily getting worse. For political reasons, Washington has made some gestures but has essentially done nothing to solve the problem.

This is a serious problem if you happen to live on the border with Mexico. Perhaps not so serious if you live 3000 miles away.

In the absence of effective Federal action, Arizona has passed a vigorous law to attempt to control illegal immigration.

Obama said:

“Indeed our failure to act responsibly at the federal level will only open the door to irresponsibility by others. And that includes, for example, the recent efforts in Arizona which threaten to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans as well as the trust between police and their communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe. In fact, I’ve instructed members of my administration to closely monitor the situation and examine the civil rights and other implications of this legislation, but if we continue to fail to act at the federal level we will continue to see misguided efforts opening up around the country.”

Think about that.

Obama actually said that it is irresponsible for Arizona to take action in its own behalf merely because the federal government has acted irresponsibly, failing it’s obligations.

You will also notice that ANY non-federal action is, in Obama’s view, “misguided”. What a pile of crap!

He goes on to say that they are undermining “basic notions of fairness”. My question is, how about “fairness” for those Americans that have been stolen from, robbed and murdered by illegal aliens? What about “fairness” for the tax payers who have to pay the medical and educational expenses of illegal aliens? Where is that fairness?

Obama cares more about these illegal aliens than he does about the citizens of our country. Of course he wants to pass his own legislation to “control” illegal immigration; but I doubt the people that live on the border will appreciate his version. Because his version almost certainly will not do anything at all to stop the illegal immigration.

God Bless Arizona, for taking steps to protect its own citizens. Efforts by a State to protect its own citizens, under any circumstances, are completely correct – especially in the absence of federal help. I hope Texas follows suit.
