The thing that gripes me about reconciliation is not that it is illegal, or anything like that.
The fact is that this bill is a massive, all-encompassing 2000+ page pile of legislation that will change the lives of every single person in the United States, for the foreseeable future. There is a LOT of reason to think this will hurt at least some people, and maybe all people, in the U.S., in several ways.
Even if I knew nothing else about it, I don’t think it’s smart to try to pass that sort of legislation without at least a comfortable majority and at least some members of both parties represented. The fact that Republicans and conservatives see such major flaws in this legislation that NONE of them will vote for it is an indication that there is something here that stinks to high heaven.
Far better to vote this down, and make smaller, incremental, more careful changes to health care.
