Please see this article over at Hot Air for references. Apologies, this article has lots of arithmetic.

ADDENDUM: Related – at Fox News: Obama Shatters Spending Record for First-Year Presidents. End Addendum.

Facts:

The ObamaCare bill, they claim, will result in saving $130 billion over ten years. This is because they start taxing immediately, but services don’t start until 2014. If you take the ten years starting in 2014, the cost is a staggering $1.8 trillion.

National Debt: Now topping $12 trillion, the annual interest payment on this will be $700 billion dollars a year by 2019.

NOTE that $700 billion dollars is about the cost of the ENTIRE IRAQ WAR SO FAR. That WE will have to pay EVERY YEAR as interest on the national debt. Also, this is at current (low) interest rates.

The following data comes from TreasuryDirect government website. The fiscal years start/end September 30.

In the years from 2001 through 2008 (Bush years), the national debt grew at an average rate of about $602 billion per year.

In 2008 through 2009 (Obama partial year) the national debt grew almost $1.9 trillion – THREE times the average of the Bush years for a PARTIAL year. Not defending Bush on this, but the rate of increase is radically higher under Obama than Bush. Even Bush was spending way too much. Obama saw we are way in debt, and radically increased spending anyway.

On top of this, the Democrats want to inflict us with their ObamaCare bill, which, starting in 2014 will add an additional $180 billion a year every year it is in operation to the national debt.

Obama, Pelosi and Reid cannot possibly be ignorant of this.

Indications are strong that our foreign debtors are losing confidence in our ability to repay the debt. The numbers above are some of those that they are looking at. If they cut us off to prevent us from spending more, we would be worse than bankrupt. The only reason they haven’t done that is that it would likely destroy their economies along with ours.

There are, according to Wikipedia, about 138 million taxpayers in the U.S. The interest alone on the national debt in 2019 will be about $5072 per taxpayer per year. BEFORE Obama, Pelosi and Reid complete their spending spree.

I’ll say it again – that $5072 is just the interest. EVERY YEAR. If that’s all we pay, it will go on forever.

When you are in a hole, it is time to stop digging! But, Obama has not stopped; quite the opposite.

I’m beginning to wonder if Obama and his cronies are trying to destroy this country. Is that their real goal? If you tried to think of a way to bring this country down, can you think of a better way to do it? It would certainly fit in with all those radical associations he has, starting with Bill Ayers and Reverend Wright, and so on, and so forth.

It’s either that, or Obama is the most foolish, stupid, incompetent president we have ever had. It’s just about got to be one or the other. And his supporters keep saying how smart he is…

I make no accusations. I just point out the facts, and raise the questions. This is how it looks from where I sit.

Do we really have representation in congress?

This isn’t about health care, but my point is made by an example from that debate. Mary Landrieu, Democrat senator from Louisiana, voted for cloture of the health bill – after an amendment was added that sees to it that Louisiana will receive $300,000,000 dollars is benefits the other states won’t get.

On the face of it, Landrieu is bargaining for benefits for her state, and I cannot argue with that.

On the other hand, nationwide only 38% of voters now favor the current health care plan. I was unable to find statistics just for Louisiana.

So it seems likely that Landrieu is voting for a bill that her constituents do NOT want.

I’m not picking on Landrieu; it’s just that this is a convenient example of how our government is NOT a representative democracy. In point of fact, our ‘representatives’ can do any damn thing they want to, and our ONLY recourse is to vote them out in the next election.

It’s nice to have a recourse. But I’d rather our elected representatives would, well, you know, represent us.

I’m here to tell you that (according to the skit) our dog is smarter than a Border Collie (7 seconds) or a Poodle (12 seconds). Our dog Rascal removed the towel in 2 seconds!

So he must be very smart!

The ’scientists’ have been fraudulently stroking the data to support the global warming hypothesis. In these emails they clearly admit that even they can not find true evidence for global warming. Here’s a link to the Fox News story. And here’s one to John Lott’s article. And here’s another John Lott article with a more detailed breakdown. The climatologists have been distorting the numbers for a very long time.

In point of fact, the last ten years has shown a decline in global temperatures. As mentioned in the emails, and noted elsewhere.

We need to put a stop to the Cap and Trade Bill – NOW. It is the most insane thing I can imagine to wreck our country financially for a stated purpose that does not exist!

Now that this is out in the open, just watch – the Obama and the Democrats will still try to push Cap & Trade through, anyway. If they succeed, it will really hurt this country economically (while lining Al Gore’s pockets), and turn even more of our economy over to control of the government. Which is the real purpose of the bill.

Ask your Senators – what is the Cap and Trade bill for, if global warming is not a risk? And tell them NOT to vote for it.

I was just reading a really interesting article by J. Neil Schulman, and he made this statement:

We’ve failed because we didn’t get that it’s not about what we’re against but what it is that we’re for.

And this rang a bell with me. I’ve spent a whole lot of energy telling you folks what I’m against, but I haven’t spent near as much time telling you what I’m for. So, I’m going to start on that right now. Following is a list of some of my beliefs, and I intend to write short blog entries to expand on each one, in a series.

First and foremost, I am a Christian.

I am a right-of-center conservative. I do not classify myself with any political party, but I do tend to vote Republican, as in many cases they individually are the closest match to my philosophy.

I believe in maximum personal freedom, commensurate with personal responsibility. I believe a person is responsible for his actions. By the same token, I believe a person should have the widest freedom to act – responsibly.

I believe strongly in the right to bear arms. Anytime, any place, any type of gun. It is illegal to kill people other than in self defense, and I believe that is the only law necessary on this subject.

I believe that abortion (other than in a case of true medical necessity to save another life, or in the case of rape) is cold blooded murder for the convenience of the mother.

I believe in minimal government. The government should be just big enough to do what really needs to be done. That list of things that needs to be done should involve only things that need to be handled as a group, such as national defense; foreign diplomacy; trade agreements, and such. It should NOT be intrusive into the lives of individuals.

I believe that involuntary “redistribution of wealth” is stealing. (SEE the Ten Commandments).

I resent all efforts at psychological manipulation by any person or organization. This includes advertising, government, and churches. This is why I will not go to church revivals. One of the quickest ways to lose my respect is to try this crap on me.

I believe that lying is wrong and truthfulness is good. I quit going to my church because I caught the pastor lying, among other things. The very fastest way to lose my respect, trust, and friendship is to lie to me. I don’t have many friends.

I believe involuntary taxation, enforced with guns, is a necessary evil, only because some people would never pay their share if it was voluntary; but taxes should be levied only for the most necessary services, such as supporting the national military. These taxes would not be onerous if the government wasn’t bloated beyond belief.

I believe that illegal aliens are, well, illegal. If they come into the country legally, I have no problem with that. If they are here illegally, they are by definition starting off their relationship with this country by breaking its laws.

I believe that if you caught somebody in the act, he / she is not a ’suspect’. Hasan, for instance, is not a ’suspect’.

Added: I believe that marriage is between one man and one woman. Besides what the Bible has to say about it, the purpose of marriage and family is ultimately to produce and raise offspring. Homosexuals by definition cannot fulfill this purpose.

That’s a start. Look for upcoming blog entries on these subjects. I will try to emphasize the positive aspects of what I believe without getting into the negative aspects of other beliefs, if I can restrain myself…

I bet the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed drags on for a looooong time.

Where the hell are they going to find twelve unbiased jurors in the United States? The whole idea of giving constitutional protection to a non-citizen of the U.S. is just wrong. And besides that, we know he’s guilty, he’s bragged about it. Shoot him now and save us a lot of money and time. This would have the added benefit of denying a whole bunch of lawyers from feeding at the public trough.

While all this hoopla is moderately important, we need to keep our eyes on the ball.

Isn’t it interesting that this kind of thing comes up to distract us just when other interesting things are going on.

Such as the fast one Obama, Pelosi and Reed are trying to put over with their 2000 page plus ‘health care bill’? Shucks, The Holy Bible is only 608 pages long (in this edition). God gave us our entire owner’s manual in less than 1/3 the pages of this health care bill. By definition, it is an atrocity waiting to happen.

Or the cap and trade bill, which will constitute the largest increase in the cost of living in the United States in history, and which is totally ineffective at it’s stated goal of stopping the alleged global warming, but, if passed, will make Al Gore obscenely rich.

BOTH of these bills have the actual purpose of putting more of our economy in the direct control of the government, furthering the statist and socialist goals of Obama, Pelosi and Reed. Neither of them will actually achieve anything the American public wants.

The U.S Preventive Services Task Force has changed the recommendation for regular screening for breast cancer. They want to minimize the quantity, and not start regular screening until age 50. Another article is here.

I have a good friend that would very likely be dead today if she had followed these new regulations.

The motivation for the change is unclear, but this may be what we can expect if ObamaPelosiCare gets through the senate. Cutting costs, don’t you know…

Palin was exactly right when she was talking about ‘death panels’. It’s inevitable, and it is in the PelosiCare bill.
